Congratulations to Ms. Alston’s Student Leadership class who worked hard to put together the 2025-2026 yearbook. The students did double duty, putting in extra time so that we could submit the yearbook by the deadline. Thank you for showing the Wolf Pact spirit!

Did you know your donations help partially fund the Literacy Intervention program at Hazel Wolf?This program is supported by both the Washington State Learning Assistance Program (LAP) and the PTSA.
It serves Kindergarten through 3rd grade students who need additional reading support. During the 2025–2026 school year, the program has supported 56 students.
The team includes two tutors and a Special Education paraeducator, and is led by Ms. Projansky, the Literacy Interventionist and ML Teacher.

📣May Student Shout Out
This month, we celebrate fourth graders Evan, Kosal, Lucas, Nathan, and Soben, who are part of the Hazel Wolf Chess Club through the Hall of Fame after school program.
In February, they competed at the Decatur Gator Fest Tournament, earning 5th place as a team and bringing home a trophy for the school. Lucas and Nathan also earned individual trophies.
All five students qualified for the Washington State Scholastic Chess Tournament, where they competed in April. As a team, the boys placed 25th out of 246 schools in the Premier section —way to represent your school! ♟️👏

Spring Masquerade Auction Recap
We are so grateful to the community showing up and making the Spring Masquerade a huge success! We raised nearly $50,000 which supports the PTSA programming at Hazel Wolf K8. This month, we celebrate our fourth and fifth graders who took part in the Seattle Public Library’s Global Reading Challenge, a fun program where students read selected books and work in teams to answer trivia questions.

At the March 26 General Session meeting, PTSA members will elect 2–3 people to serve on the PTSA Nominating Committee. Childcare for Spring Masquerade Auction
We’re partnering with Mosaic Room in Pinehurst (11742 15th Ave NE) to offer supervised childcare on March 21. Drop-off is 5:00–6:00pm; pick-up is 9:30–10:00pm (earlier pickup available). Cost is $40 per child, $30 per sibling. Kids will enjoy games, crafts, activities, a movie, and snacks.
With childcare covered, enjoy a night out at the auction! The evening includes a catered dinner, live jazz during cocktail hour, the Dessert Dash, raffles, Raise the Paddle, and a silent auction.

Outdoor learning & field trips From local field experiences to overnight trips for 5th and 8th graders, PTSA funding helps ensure students can learn beyond the classroom.
Student tutoring support Seven PTSA-funded tutors provide more than 100 hours of support each week, helping students in grades 1–8 build confidence and succeed academically.
Classroom & program grants Every full-time teacher receives a $400 PTSA Classroom Grant to enhance learning. These funds also support vital programs like Engineering, Art, Music, PE, and library learning.
Racial Equity Committee This work supports BIPOC students while helping foster a school culture where every student feels seen, valued, and supported.
Family Support Program PTSA helps meet basic needs like learning scholarships, coats, and shoes. During the Fall 2025 Coat Drive, families requested 81 coats — four times more than the previous year.
Community-building events From the Fall Harvest Festival and movie nights to Multicultural Night and Glow Dance, PTSA funding helps create the events that bring our community together.

👶 Childcare: We’ve Got You Covered
Enjoy the auction without juggling childcare. We’re partnering with Mosaic Room (11742 15th Ave NE) in the Pinehurst neighborhood to offer a Parents’ Night Out during the auction.
Hours: Drop-off 5:00–6:00pm, Pick-up 9:30–10:00pm (early pickup available) Cost: $40 per child, $30 per additional sibling
Kids will enjoy a fully supervised evening with games, crafts, group activities, and a movie with wind-down time. Snacks are provided, and families can note food allergies during registration. 👉 Register for childcare today!

Your Donations in Action
Thank you to all those who donated during the Gift Card Drive! Because of your generosity, every student on Hazel Wolf’s Family Support list received a gift card. We received 64 community-donated gift cards, which helped support the 41 (out of 125) families who had not yet received gift cards through Operation School Bell or Emergency Right Now Needs Funds from Amazon.

For our first Student Shout-Out, congratulations to the Lake City Lightning Lions! They won the Seattle Youth Soccer Association’s GU10 City Tournament in December! The Lightning Lions include the following 4th graders: Henley, Iris, Julia, Karis, Keira, Nora, Paige, Phoenix, Tula, and Wrenley .

PTSA Volunteer Opportunities
School Tours Volunteers Needed
We need volunteers to help guide prospective families on Jan. 14. Sign up to help with school tours.
The BIPOC Community Connection Event is a chance to build and celebrate community, share your voice and experiences, and learn how to get involved with the PTSA. Join us on Thursday, January 15, from 6:30–8:00 pm at the school for a welcoming and supportive gathering, with dinner and childcare provided.
Seattle Kraken Game, Jan. 23
Grab specialty-priced tickets for the Seattle Kraken vs. Anaheim Ducks game on Friday, January 23 at 7pm. $3 from every ticket will be donated back to the Hazel Wolf K-8 PTSA. Purchase Krakent tickets today!

We earned free Ridwell plastic films pick-ups this academic year. Drop off your clean and dry plastic films in the Ridwell bin by the school entrance anytime. Learn what items Ridwell can accept.
