What’s your “Why PTSA”? All week, we’ve been bringing you videos of some of our amazing staff sharing the many ways PTSA funding is important to the learning experience at Hazel Wolf. (All the videos are on the PTSA blog and on Facebook in the Friends of Hazel Wolf page.) We hope these videos helped you feel more connected with the school during this time. We encourage anyone who wants to connect with our community to share “Why the PTSA is important to me?” or “How the PTSA has helped our community” on the Facebook Hazel Wolf Community group. Come check out what others are saying!

Mr. Fogarty, Hazel Wolf E-STEM Coordinator, thanks the PTSA and shares the significant ways funding from the PTSA supports his E-STEM role and the E-STEM programs at Hazel Wolf:
Outdoor education scholarships: Reducing financial barriers so all students can attend outdoor education field trips, such as NatureBridge, Camp Sealth and Mt. Rainier Institute.
ESTEM storylines: Funding to help teachers take release time and to attend trainings for E-STEM storylines. This allows teachers to come together to collaborate and work on new curriculum.
Multimedia class and equipment: Enabling purchase of cameras, tripods, digital recorders for use by the MS Multimedia class and by anyone in the school. In class, students make websites, films, podcasts and more. A student from the class has a photograph going on to the national level for the PTA Reflections contest. Also, equipment is used for documenting special events at school and teachers’ work.
Thank you to our community for your support and making these incredible E-STEM programs possible for our school. The Hazel Wolf Online Auction is currently open and closes on Sunday, April 5th at 9:00pm. To make a donation or to participate in the online auction, go to: hazelwolf2020.ggo.bid.
Here is Hazel Wolf’s Drama & Elementary Music Teacher– Ms. Burnett. She’s going to share with you how her music program has benefited by supporting funds from the PTSA.
Key Highlights: Ms. Burnett came to Hazel Wolf eight years ago and was in charge of starting the brand new music program—but she didn’t have any instruments!
Over the years, she has been able to purchase xylophones, drums, tambourines and many kinds of classroom instruments through music grants from the PTSA. More recently, Ms. Burnett was able to purchase a whole classroom set of ukuleles with outside funding plus support of PTSA funding. She looks forward to teaching ukulele to the students soon!
While district funds can only go so far, this shows how support from PTSA funds can help our teachers and staff create stronger programs and bring more enriching experiences to every student in our school community.
Thank you for your support of our online auction going on now. You can go to hazelwolf2020.ggo.bid to make a donation and to bid/buy auction items. The online auction closes on Sunday, April 5th at 9:00pm.
We hope that you are enjoying the staff videos this week and that they are bringing you some welcome connection with our school. As we are approaching the halfway point of our first ever online auction, we are thrilled to share that we are almost halfway to our fundraising goal! Thank you so much for pulling together and living the Wolfpack values of perseverance, caring about our school and helping one another.
Don’t worry if you haven’t checked out the auction yet– there is still time to bid on items big and small, such as books autographed by your favorite teacher to a trip to Costa Rica. Also many popular auction items are still available, including classroom art projects, commemorative auction glasses and party spots of all varieties.
If you’re simply looking to give, please consider a donation to the Hazel Wolf K-8 General Fund, our Covid-19 Emergency Relief Fund, or Olympic Hills Elementary, our neighboring Title 1 school.
Hey Wolf Pack! Today you get to see Ms. Cater, one of our 1st grade teachers, as she shares the two main ways PTSA classroom grants have impacted her students. Thank you Ms. Cater for sharing your experience!
Supplemental math materials such as games, hands on activities and online subscriptions that are highly engaging and motivate students. Also, the materials help her further differentiate teaching to the wide range of math learners in the classroom.
Update and expand her classroom library each year to provide a range of narratives that reflects and mirrors her students’ stories and creates a cohesive community of learners.
Thank you to our community for your support! Donations to the PTSA provide classroom teachers like Ms. Cater the ability to witness the impact of these kind of resources on their students each year.
The Hazel Wolf Online Auction is currently open and runs until Sunday, April 5th at 9:00pm.
