Did you know 81 coats were requested during the 2025 Fall Coat Drive — four times more than last year? Thanks to your generosity, Hazel Wolf families will stay warm this winter.

PTSA Updates

Become a PTSA Voting Member

Parents, caregivers, and community members are all welcome—no meeting or volunteer commitment required. Just one membership per family helps support our students and school community.

After-School String Ensemble

5th-8th graders can join the after-school string ensemble starting Monday, Nov 3. Led by Heather Jacobs, a Certified Music Improvisation teacher, this is a fantastic opportunity to build foundational skills. 5 classes for $75 plus tax, held on Mondays 3:30pm to 4:30pm in the Music Room. Ski Bus Program for 2025-2026

The PTSA offers two Ski Bus programs to Summit Central, with lessons and transportation. Fun, safe, and a great way to improve skills with friends! Programs are popular and may sell out so register early!

️ Wednesday Ski Bus (Grades 3–8, SSCS)

  • 6 weeks, Jan. 7 – Feb. 11 | 4:00–6:30 p.m. (skiing only)
  • Cost: $650 – Ski bus & lessons (lift ticket not included) | $425 – Bus only (grades 5–8)
  • Bus: Departs ~2:30 p.m., returns ~8:30 p.m.

Friday Ski Bus (Grades 5–8, Webbski)

Spring Masquerade Auction Support

Our biggest Fundraiser is Saturday, March 21st. If you’re interested in supporting, please email stephanie.paolone@hazelwolfk8.org to get involved in any of the following ways:

  • Donate a gift card, auction item, or auction experience
  • Lead a student art project or create a themed basket for your child’s grade
  • Help with decorations for the event
  • Join the fundraising planning committee
  • Share connections for dessert donations, a DJ/band, or catering
  • Or suggest another way to contribute!

Don’t forget to purchase your auction tickets!

Bank Statement Reviewer

The PTSA is looking for a volunteer to review bank statements on a monthly basis. Time commitment is 10 minutes a month and can be completed from home. Please reach out to treasurer@hazelwolfk8.org if you can help.

Living Wall Volunteer

The PTSA is looking for someone to care for our beloved living wall to keep it looking fresh and fern-tastic. If you have a green thumb and are willing to lend a hand, reach out to president@hazelwolfk8.org.

Staff Appreciation Breakfast Lead

The PTSA is looking for a volunteer to lead the Staff Appreciation Breakfast in December! This event is a staff favorite! It’s a chance to celebrate our wonderful teachers and staff with a delicious hot breakfast provided by families. November PTSA Events

Theme Search for 2027-2028 Reflections Art Contest, Nov 3

Did you know that each year’s Reflections theme is created by a student? Now’s your chance to inspire the 2027–28 contest! Submit your theme idea through a quick online application by November 3 at noon.

The winning student receives $100 from the National PTA, a feature on their website, and recognition nationwide during the Reflections Art Contest!

Hazel Wolf Skate Party, Nov. 14

Come hang out with your friends and classmates for 2 hours of skating fun on Friday, November 14 from 5pm to 7pm. The cost is $12 per skate at Lynnwood Bowl & Skate (6210 200th St SW, Lynnwood, WA 98036).

Spirit Gear Sale, Order by Nov. 14

Show your school pride! Spirit Gear order forms were sent home in kidmail on November 3 (check those backpacks!). Orders are due by November 14, and items will be delivered to students the week of December 14.

Gift Card Drive, Now until Nov. 21

As we head into the winter months and with fewer local resources, the PTSA is collecting gift cards in $25 increments to Amazon, Kroger, or Target to help Hazel Wolf families purchase groceries and other essentials. Please drop off your gift cards at the front desk by November 21st. Every donation makes a difference—thank you for supporting our community!

Ridwell Plastic Film Pick-ups, Ongoing

We earned free Ridwell plastic films pick-ups this academic year. Drop off your clean and dry plastic films in the Ridwell bin by the school entrance anytime. Learn what can be accepted: https://www.ridwell.com/pickup-categories/iPLGbgvM 

Looking Ahead

Reflections Art Contest – “I Belong!”, Dec. 1

Entries due December 1, 2025. Students are invited to express this year’s theme, “I Belong!”, through Dance, Film, Literature, Music, Photography, or Visual Arts (including sculpture and ceramics).

Entries are judged on creativity and interpretation, not skill level, and students may enter individually in their age group (PreK–K, 1–2, 3–5, or 6–8). An Accessible Arts Division is also available for students with a 504 or IEP.

Top entries advance to Seattle Council, State, and National PTA levels.

Spring Masquerade Auction, Mar. 21

Celebrate with the Hazel Wolf community at our Spring Masquerade Auction—an evening of fun, food, and fundraising! Enjoy dinner, dancing, and exciting activities like the dessert dash, silent auction, raffle games, and our inspiring Raise the Paddle moment. This is a 21+ event.

The Winter Clothing & Ski Swap is this Saturday, November 1! This event is open to the public, so invite your friends and family!

October’s meeting includes updates from the Principal and PTSA, a preview of upcoming events, and budget approval. Dinner and Childcare will be provided.

The Fall Harvest Festival is this Saturday, October 25 from 12pm-2pm in the Cafetorium. Celebrate the season with tricks, treats, games, and spooky surprises. There will be refreshments and food available for purchase. Costumes encouraged!

Consignment drop off starts this week! Drop off your items October 21, 23, 28, 30 and 31 from 3-6pm at the front of the school.

Get your family winter-ready and support Hazel Wolf K‑8! Join us for our Winter Clothing & Ski Swap on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 11am-4pm in the Hazel Wolf cafetorium.

This event is open to the public. Please share with friends and family!

  • Gently used winter coats, boots, rain gear, and ski/snowboard equipment for adults and children
  • Brand new gear from Dusty’s Ski Shop
  • Awesome deals for the whole family

💸 Want to Sell?

Consign your gently used winter gear — you keep 60%, and 40% goes to PTSA programs. Consignment drop-off dates: October 21, 23, 28, 30 and 31 from 3pm – 6 pm in front of the main school entrance

Lost and Found

  • The Lost and Found is located by the front office. Parents can access it anytime during office hours. Students are encouraged to check it before or after school.
  • If there is a legible phone number on an item, a notification text will be sent by a volunteer.
  • Items left in the Lost and Found for more than 4 weeks will be donated to Kidvantage.
  • Browse photos and videos of current Lost and Found items.

Read-a-Thon

The Read-a-Thon has been cancelled this year, but we’re excited for our other two major fundraisers: the Spring Auction on March 21, 2026 and the Move-a-Thon in the spring.

SDOT Walkways Update

Back in January 2025, the Seattle Department of Transportation held a public walk in Pinehurst with about 25 residents to gather feedback on new sidewalks and walkways. Based on community input and key criteria such as safety, equity, and proximity to schools and transit, SDOT will design 28 blocks of walkways for construction between 2026–2029, with project schedules available by late 2025.

Seattle School Board Candidate Forum, Oct. 14

On October 14, 2025, Catharine Blaine K-8 PTA will host a student-focused forum with candidates for School Board Districts 2, 4, 5, & 7. Students will help co-moderate the conversation, featuring a Q&A, short break, and trivia round.

Seattle Reign Game, Oct. 17

Join Hazel Wolf families for a fun night of soccer as we cheer on the FC Reign at their last home game, Friday October 17th at Lumen Field. Game starts at 7pm. For each ticket purchased, $3 will go directly to the Hazel Wolf PTSA! Purchase discounted tickets.

Winter Gear and Ski Swap, Nov. 1

The annual Hazel Wolf Winter Gear Exchange & Ski Swap is happening November 1st! Start rounding up the winter layers you and your kids have outgrown and need to replace. Jackets, snow or rain pants and boots, gloves, hats, and winter socks. Plus snow gear, including: skis (downhill or cross country), snowboards, snow shoes, and more! We will be consigning gear the week before and then selling new & gently used gear at the event. More details to come soon.
