Feeling Grateful for… the Virginia Inn!

During the first day of a busy St. Patrick’s Day weekend, Seattle’s iconic Virginia Inn generously donated 50% of proceeds to our PTSA. We’re thrilled to be able to share that, as a result of this incredible kindness, we received a donation of $4,623!

Craig Perez – co-owner of the historic restaurant and bar, and a Hazel Wolf 4th grader parent – was the man behind the idea for this wonderful event, and we can’t thank him and the Virginia Inn team enough for their support of our school community.

Thanks also to the families who came out on March 16th and enjoyed food and drinks from the Inn’s delicious menu. We hope you had a fun downtown adventure with family and friends!

Looking for a brunch spot to kick off your weekend? Look no further than Seattle’s iconic Virginia Inn!

This Saturday, March 16th, 50% of the Inn’s proceeds will be donated to our PTSA, thanks to the incredible generosity of Craig Perez – co-owner of the historic restaurant and bar, and a Hazel Wolf 4th grader parent.

Virginia Inn, 1937 1st Ave, Seattle, WA 98101
Browse menus and plan your visit at https://virginiainnseattle.com

Please go enjoy an amazing brunch, lunch or drink, knowing you’ll also be helping raise funds that the PTSA will use to support a variety of programs that make a real difference for students, staff and families.

And, since weather reports suggest we’ll have a beautiful Pacific Northwest day on our hands, why not make a day of it and enjoy other downtown favorites such as Seattle Art Museum, Pacific Science Center, or the Olympic Sculpture Park?

Cheers to delicious brunches in historic hotspots, and a fabulous way to kick-off St. Patrick’s Day weekend – plus, HUGE thanks to Craig and the Virginia Inn team!

Oh, What a Night!

Well, that’s a wrap, folks! Our Spring Fling has flung, and it was SO. MUCH. FUN!!

When our school community asked for an in-person party, we listened – and whoa, did you show up and make the night ROCK!

“Dancing was really FUN!”
“Dessert Dash was beautiful – and delicious!”
“Guitar Gil & Friends did a GREAT job!”

From parents who’ve been with our school a long time and seen it become what it is today, to new parents just starting out and making it what it will be in the future – everyone was so generous, and spirits were high from doors open to lights out.

It was also incredibly special to celebrate alongside several of our amazing teachers and staff members, who we appreciate so much for helping all our students become the very best versions of themselves.

Oh, and the icing on the cake? You helped us exceed our goal and raise more than $25,000 to support our school community and programs!

All in all, there were happy memories made, and many positive takeaways from our first in-person party in five years. (Not least of which is… we’re excited to repeat events like this in the future!)

Huge and sincere thanks to everyone who helped make Spring Fling happen – from dessert donations to decor set-up, guest check-in to bartending – and to all our guests for being there, looking beautiful, and lighting up the dancefloor!

If you attended in any capacity and have feedback to share, we’d love to hear from you! Please email fundraising@hazelwolfk8.org with any comments, ideas or questions.

Want to help organize super-fun events like this for our school community? Consider joining our Board, or becoming a project lead or PTSA volunteer! No experience required, any and all levels of enthusiasm welcomed!

Got Tickets for Spring Fling? Things to Know Before You Go!

Spring Fling is almost here, and we can’t wait! If you have tickets already, here’s some logistical information we thought you’d like to know before you arrive. (If you still need to grab a ticket before they sell out, click here.)

Where?
Lake Forest Park Civic Club
17301 Beach Dr NE, Lake Forest Park, WA 98155

The Civic Club has free parking for approximately 40 vehicles. Once that’s filled, there are additional spaces across Bothell Way.

What Should I Wear?
Dress for a good time! Despite our lovely PNW weather not getting the memo, we’re going for a Spring cocktail party theme – think cocktail or floral dresses, slacks, and your best dancing shoes. It’s most important to us that everyone has a good time, so if cocktail dresses aren’t for you, then come in your favorite party attire.

Do I need to bring anything?
This is a 21+ event with alcohol available for purchase, and we will be checking photo ID. Please be sure to have it with you.

When?
Check-in begins at 6pm, and the evening will wrap up around 9pm.

What?
Here’s a list of program highlights:

Cocktail Hour
Mingle with Friends & Staff
Live Music by Guitar Gil & Friends
Good Food & Drinks
Special Video Presentation
Raise the Paddle
Dessert Dash
Music & Dancing

What’s a Raise the Paddle?
It’s a way for participants to help support all the amazing Hazel Wolf K-8 programs the PTSA funds. During this part of the evening, we’ll ask you to lift your bid card (your “paddle”, which you’ll receive during check-in) and pledge a donation amount that makes sense for you. It’s that simple.

We’ll start with a dollar amount and ask for anyone who’s willing to donate at that amount to raise their bid card, and to hold that card in the air until we’ve recorded everyone’s bid number. And remember – you can raise your paddle more than once!

What’s a Dessert Dash?
A Dessert Dash is an auction – for dessert! It’s a fun way to have our cake while raising money for the school. There’ll be a display of delicious donated desserts, but… we’re asking attendees to make a donation in order to enjoy them!

Guests at each table pool their donations to bid on one of the desserts – each table will be given a Dessert Dash Bid Sheet, for you to list your contribution. Once all the bid sheets have been collected, we’ll announce the highest table bid, and that table gets to pick their favorite dessert first – and so on, until every table has chosen a dessert. It goes fast (hence “Dash”), so it’s best to pick a runner for your table, and agree on your top choices ahead of time!

I have dietary restrictions. Will there be options for me?
Our appetizers will include vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options. The bánh mì sandwiches will be available in meat, vegetarian, and gluten-free (no bun) variations. For the Dessert Dash, allergens such as nuts, dairy, soy, gluten will be listed on the desserts.

Any other questions?
Please email fundraising@hazelwolfk8.org and we’ll do our best to help!

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, March 2nd, for what promises to be a fantastic in-person FUNdraiser to benefit our wonderful school!

Help Us Stage our First In-Person Fundraiser in Five Years!

Only two weeks to go until Spring Fling is here, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring back an in-person FUNdraiser for our parents, caregivers and staff. There’s just one thing… we need YOUR help to make it happen!

From venue set up and guest check-in, to bartending and DJ’ing, events like this involve a lot of moving pieces and require many helpers to make them a success. We’re looking for volunteers to join our party planning committee members and help with set-up, the event itself, and (minimal) clean-up at the end of the evening.

Afternoon shifts (great for any high schoolers looking for volunteer hours!) and evening positions are available, and we can promise a super-fun time working alongside other Hazel Wolf K-8 parents and caregivers!

Feel free to sign up for a time slot that matches your availability, and/or a specific position that interests you. If you’d like to volunteer AND participate in the fundraising activities (Dessert Dash/Raise the Paddle) you WILL need to buy a ticket (which includes food). If you’d like to volunteer and NOT participate in the fundraising, you don’t need to buy a ticket, and food will be provided.

Love baking? We’re also looking for Dessert Dash donations! Our party planning committee has been contacting local bakeries and restaurants to ask for donations, but we’re also hoping bakers in our fabulous school community will contribute, too.

Desserts need to feed 8-10 people, and beyond that – the choice is yours! The only thing we ask is that you list any allergens (nuts, dairy, soy, gluten), or let us know if your dessert is gluten-free, vegan, etc., so we can be sure to share this information with guests before they start placing their bids.

It’s true what they say… it takes a village to make events like this happen for our community, and we appreciate your help in any capacity. Thank you in advance for your participation!

Still need tickets? This is proving to be a popular event, and there are fewer than 40 remaining – click here to buy now!

Mingle, Dance & Dine – All for a Great Cause!

Did you hear the news? Your Hazel Wolf K-8 PTSA is hosting its first IN-PERSON party fundraiser in FIVE YEARS!

On Saturday, March 2nd (6-9pm), we’re gathering at Lake Forest Park Civic Club to put the FUN in fundraising! Book a sitter, bring your friends, and join us for an evening of dinner, drinks and dancing – with proceeds helping to support all kinds of amazing programs at our school; from field trips to staff grants, outdoor education to tutoring.

The Spring Fling is a chance for you to mingle with friends, meet new families, catch up with staff, and – most importantly – have fun! Once you’ve had a chance to enjoy some tasty appetizers, a delicious Vietnamese bánh mì sandwich, and beverages from the bar, we’ll introduce a little friendly competition with the best kind of auction… a Dessert Dash!

Team up with your table and pool your bids on a selection of delicious, donated desserts. The highest table bid gets to choose their favorite dessert first – and so it goes, until all desserts are spoken for. (If you’re reading this and would like to donate a dessert, please email fundraising@hazelwolfk8.org – we’d love to hear from you!)

We’re also super-thrilled to announce Guitar Gil and Friends – featuring our very own Mr. Stevens – will be performing live during the evening!

All in all, what’s not to love? Tickets are on sale now and space is limited, so don’t delay – buy your tickets today!
