PTSA Winter Event Recap

Welcome back! We hope you had a relaxing Mid-Winter Break.

2025 is off to a strong start, with the PTSA hosting a guest speaker at the January general session and throwing a fun dance party. We also celebrated the city results of the National PTA Reflections Art Contest. Read the recaps!

Online Safety Presentation by Amy Lang from Birds & Bees & Kids

In January, the PTSA invited Amy Lang from Birds & Bees & Kids to speak at the general session, where she shared valuable resources and insights on keeping kids safe online.  Thanks to all those who attended!

We had a great conversation about:

  • Simple, low-tech things you can do to keep your kids safer online
  • Why you need to talk about online safety
  • How to talk about pornography (before they see it)
  • What to say and how to handle it if they’ve seen it
  • Why monitoring and filtering are so important

“Ready. Set. Glow” Dance

More than 100 families attended our first ever “Ready. Set. Glow!” Dance in January. It was an absolute blast to see all the kids (and grown ups!) having such a fun time dancing together! Huge thanks to our amazing DJ, Henry Vogler, our PTSA event planners—Maia Vogler and Diana Wong—and all the parent volunteers who helped with set up and take down: Andrew Chipperfield, Heather Eliav, Hannah Gelman, Rob Hill, Jenn Johnson-Demel, Chakrya Lim, Amanda Smith, and Erika Trott. Without your help, this uplifting community event would not have been possible.

2024 National PTA Reflections Art Contest

Although this contest took place in the fall, the judging and celebration at the city level recently wrapped up. Congratulations to the Hazel Wolf K-8 students who are finalists, with their art advancing to the state level, and to all the Honorable Mentions! We have some talented students.
