Dear Hazel Wolf Family,
Hazel Wolf K-8 is a vibrant and resilient learning community that supports and cultivates family engagement. The PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) is here to help facilitate that engagement and uplift our school community. We do that in the following ways:
We provide financial support – Every teacher receives a PTSA classroom grant to support their teaching. Additional funds are dedicated to our library, ESTEM (Environmental Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program, arts programs, racial equity teams, tutors, and more. We are continuing to dedicate more funds than usual to tutors during these challenging pandemic years to make sure our students can succeed.
We support families in need – As we continue to live through this global pandemic, programs like our annual coat, food, and gift card drives, are even more essential than ever. The CARES (Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security) team helps provide financial aid to families with specific school-related needs.
We solve problems – When bussing service stopped suddenly in October, the PTSA quickly communicated the problem and alternate transportation solutions. Then we worked to connect students who needed rides with families who could provide them and to schedule extra volunteers during pick up and drop off.
We build an inclusive community – The PTSA Racial Equity Committee focuses on supporting Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) students and families be heard, validated and seen as leaders in the school community. We do this in a variety of ways: including supporting the Student Racial Equity Team, holding listening sessions for BIPOC families, and hosting groups to help white people strengthen their anti-racist skills.
