A Letter to the Hazel Wolf K-8 School Community

September 9, 2022

Subject: From your Hazel Wolf K-8 PTSA President

Dear Hazel Wolf Community:

I’m writing today to introduce myself as your 2022 Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) President for Hazel Wolf-K8.

We know that the delayed start to the year is causing stress on all of you – which is especially trying on the heels of so much disruption over the last two and a half school years. However you and your family are feeling during this uncertain time, please know that my thoughts are with you as you navigate this delayed start. I know we all have uniquely different situations that make this time a challenge. During this time, my hope is that we can support each other, as a community and as fellow humans.

Many of you are very involved with our public education system, while others may be struggling to understand why our staff/educators are striking. My goal is to ensure everyone has access to up-to-date information about why the strike is occurring, and what you as a community member can do to have your voice heard and or offer support. If you’re not familiar with the details of the strike, this article [seattletimes.com] has a good overview.

It’s also important to me that you understand the actions the PTSA is able to take while bargaining is happening.  Our role is to foster community through communication and events, support student education and success, provide staff support, and act as advocates to improve our educational system. As a non-profit and as part of the Washington State PTA, our advocacy during bargaining is to ensure our students have as little disruption to the normal school year as possible. Below is the current guidance we have been asked to follow:

Below you will find ways you can stay connected to community-planned teacher supports via Facebook pages, as well as ways to stay informed and write letters to SEA, SPS/Board and or the SCPTSA. Many of these links provide a wealth of information along with methods to contact each organization.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I will continue to keep you informed and aim to be as transparent as possible.

Thank you,

Christa Kleiner

PTSA President Hazel Wolf K-8
