A Big Week for Spelling

This week was the finals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee, and the winner was an 8th grader who correctly spelled “koinonia”!

Do you know that our PTSA organizes the Hazel Wolf spelling bee each year? We need a parent volunteer/group of parents who can organize this event during the fall/winter to make sure our spellers have an opportunity to reach their full potential. If you are interested in helping please contact Christa Kleiner at studentextensions@hazelwolfk8.org.

The PTSA supports this and other enrichment events across the school year. We are also looking for a board member who can oversee these events—our Student Enrichment Coordinator. These are opportunities open to every student. The spelling bee, Literacy Night, Field Day, school musical, Reflections art contest…these are events that encourage our students to apply their learning outside the classroom. If you have some time to join the board and support enrichment, please contact Kim Steffensmeier at president@hazelwolfk8.org.
